Book Review : Reclaim Your Heart by Yasmin Mogahed
Assalamualaikum ! I would call myself a bibliophile . I love to collect and read books. Please exclude those books with medical jargons and 1001 things to be remembered . During my leisure time , other than surfing internet I would read books .
During my childhood , I've been reading those Peter and Jane *everybody read this and you called yourself a bibliophile . Shut up . It's my blog* , Cinderella , Sleeping Beauty *my dad used to call me sleeping beauty because I love to sleep , but beauty ? he must have been mistaken the meaning of beauty* Then , during my high school , I started to read all those , Harry Potter's series , Malay and English romance novel till now . So basically , that's how I develop my love towards books . But , tbh , Malay romance book has less inputs . The storyline is cliche and it's boring so I stop reading those .
One of the book or should I call most-inspirational book that I've read during this semester break was Reclaim Your Heart by Yasmin Mogahed.
This gonna be my honest review . I bought this book using free 1Malaysia Book Voucher because it is quite pricy in Malaysia ; RM 81.80 for about 168 pages . But , if you ask me now would I buy the book if I didn't have any voucher . It would be a BIG YES ! When I started to read a few pages , it hit me so hard . The way the writer put her words and relate real life situation with Quran verse . It was AMAZING ! It was a book written to awaken the heart and provide a new perspective of love , loss , happiness and pain .
So , I'm gonna share some words that really change my dependance towards Allah . It's not that before this I don't make du'a or depend on Allah's help . It just strenghthen my dependence . So here goes the story under the topic : Hardship . It states the verse from Quran Chapter number 50 Surah Qaf verse 16 .
In this verse , Allah SWT begins by showing us that He knows our struggles. He knows what our own self calls us to. But He is closer. He is closer than our own self and what is it calls for .
He is closer than our jugular vein . Why the jugular ? The jugular vein is the most important vein that brings blood to the heart . If severed , we die almost immediately . It is literally our lifeline .
But Allah SWT is closer . So , when we reach for other than Him , we are not only reaching for what is weaker , we are also reaching past what is closer , for what is further and more distant . SubhanAllah (Glory be to God).
Based on those explanation , I've realised that we as a human being , as a Muslim especially should put our trust and dependence on Allah SWT only . Allah should be the one that we seek first as he is the nearest to us . Somehow , I realised that in this life I used to depend on peoples , materials not knowing that those people will die sooner or later . And those material thingy would be broken or lost .
So , I would update on other topics soon , insya Allah . This is one of the book that I'll read over and over again .

The background music video that really suits this Hardship topic would be Make me Strong by Sami Yusuf . I'm in love with this song as well ❤
